Dental emergencies can happen to anyone. They can happen in the blink of an eye, or they could unravel gradually. Patients need an emergency dentist who knows them and cares about their individual needs.
Who would you turn to in a dental crisis? Whatever situation may arise for you or one of your loved ones, Dr. Farrell and his team are here to support you. We will work hard to relieve your pain and restore your smile.
Common Dental Emergencies
Dental emergencies include:
Knocked out permanent tooth | If you still have the tooth, rinse it carefully. Place it back into its original position in the mouth, or into a plastic bag of milk.
Fractured or chipped tooth | If a significant portion of the tooth has detached, bring the pieces into the office. Place a cold compress on the outside of the affected area to keep swelling down.
Severe toothache | Clean your teeth gently but thoroughly, just in case debris is causing the discomfort. If pain persists, contact us, as it might be a sign that you need urgent treatment.
Object or food stick between the teeth | Use regular floss to try and remove the food. Do not resort to sharp tools, but call us instead.
Soft tissue injury | If the injury is life-threatening or the bleeding will not stop, go to an emergency room. For other soft tissue injuries, give us a call.
Lost or damaged dental work | Contact us and we can help you assess the situation. We may recommend a drugstore tooth cement until you can see us in our office.
